The new SM30KWExxA/CA module from ProTek Devices is a revised TVS module which is used for AC/DC power lines, motor and module lightning protection or as secondary lightning protection

The SM30KWExxA/CA series is a high-performance, surface-mount component for the suppression of transient voltages, which was launched in September 2023 in a revised design.

The series was developed to protect devices and systems from the damaging effects of high voltage spikes. The surface-mount housing configuration offers a lower profile compared to the conventional housing configurations with axial connections.

The module provides a peak pulse power dissipation of 30 kilowatts at 10/1000μs waveform.

Applications include the protection of AC/DC mains wiring, the protection of terrestrial base stations and the lightning protection of motors and modules.

As mechanical features, surface mounting, a low weight of approx. 1.2 g, a 100 % lead-free tin coating and a UL 94V-0 flammability rating should be mentioned. Of course, the module is available in unidirectional and bidirectional versions as well as various voltage versions.

The SM30KWExxA/CA modules are RoHS and REACH compliant and conform to the RTCA DO-160G standard.
